These are the common questions people ask before calculating, buying, or pouring concrete.
How do I calculate concrete for a slab?
Multiply length by width by thickness to get cubic feet. Convert thickness from inches to feet first, then divide cubic feet by 27 to get cubic yards.
How much extra concrete should I order?
Many small projects use a 5% to 10% waste factor. Irregular forms, uneven subgrade, deep edges, or complicated pours may need more.
Is ready-mix or bagged concrete better?
Bagged concrete works for small repairs, post holes, and very small pads. Ready-mix is usually better for larger slabs, driveways, patios, and projects requiring multiple cubic yards.
How thick should a concrete slab be?
The right thickness depends on use, load, soil, base prep, and local requirements. Patios and sidewalks are often thinner than driveways or garage slabs.
